Shopping around for a North Pole expedition?
4 questions you should ask any provider...

Question #1 What's really included in the cost of the Expedition?
Our Answer: Most expeditions are not all-inclusive; they exclude all of your lodging and food in Longyearbyen. As an out-of-pocket cost you can expect to pay up to several thousand dollars extra for these expenses. PolarExplorers INCLUDES these costs in all but our most basic packages. You will not have to pay for lodging or take the time to make reservations.. You will not have to pay for food or find the best places to eat. Just arrive in Longyearbyen, and we'll take care of the rest. Furthermore, most PolarExplorers expeditions include a team anorak (the best polar wind shell on the market - complete with fur ruff - that is yours to keep at the end of the expedition!) We also include other things, like your boot system and your skis, saving you the time and cost of having to bring your own. Our Champagne Flights include a guide for the duration of the experience (most do not). Our guides are great resources and excellent ambassadors to the Arctic region and their role is to help you get the absolute most out of your experience.

Question #2 Who is guiding the expedition?
Our Answer: This is an important question. You want a guide who is fun, friendly, helpful, experienced and personal. Many companies that sell North Pole expeditions are "agents" who market expeditions, but don't guide them. They will take your deposit and "sell" you to another guide. You might even get "sold" again to a third party. At PolarExplorers we guide all of our own expeditions. That is why we are in business - and we love what we do! We know that our guides offer the highest quality experience. On other expeditions people often arrive feeling unprepared and complain of being led as if they were mere tourists. Our team members not only feel well prepared, but they are encouraged to take part in as many aspects of the expedition as interest them (for instance, we are happy to teach polar navigation and let you try leading for a day - under our guidance of course, or if you want to know about polar history we'll offer an impromptu lecture in the tent at night...) If we cannot accommodate you on one of our expeditions (if we are sold out, or if there are not enough people registered) we will offer to arrange for you to join another expedition or we will refund your deposit - your choice. Question #3 What kind of training and pre-expedition services do they offer?
Our Answer: Your PolarExplorers expedition INCLUDES a 5 day Polar Shakedown training trip to help you prepare for your expedition. We also include unlimited phone support for help with gear selection and physical training.
Question #4 Has anyone ever quit one of their expeditions? Why?
Our Answer: Find out if anyone has ever quit one of their expeditions either before they arrived on the ice - or even after! You'd be surprised how many guiding services have had clients quit before they reached the North Pole. PolarExplorers has never had anyone quit or opt-out of participating in an expedition. This is because we take great care to prepare and inform people about conditions and what to expect prior to the expeditions. Our guides are also very good at helping people feel welcome, and addressing any possible concerns.

Finally, before you place your deposit with another guiding service, give us a call and let us explain why our expeditions are the best choice when heading to the North or South Poles! 800.732.7328 in the US & Canada -OR- +001.847.256.4409 outside the US & Canada.
