Making Miles in High Winds

The Shackleton Crossing team has had a long and grueling day covering roughly 14km across the Fortuna Glacier. However, the sun came out and gave them a welcome opportunity to use their sunscreen, which has been relatively untouched.

Although severe wind gusts (roughly 60mph) have caused some damage to the tents, the team still reports high spirits and energy. Temperatures are comfortably hovering right around 0°C. Tomorrow will be the final leg of the crossing and the last miles covered in the footsteps of Shackleton. Stay tuned in for updates!

Listen to team members Bud Thomas, John Reamer, and John Gluckman as they give their impressions of the day and the expedition thus far.
