Dye 2 - The Strangest Place and Storm #2

"One of the strangest places on Earth." That's how some people describe Dye 2. Our team toured it today with an expert (Salo) who has been there many times during previous icecap crossings.

Together At Last!... (and at DYE 2!!)

An exciting day for the team! They started the day off as all their other days...  a lazy morning at Camp Heart Break looking ahead to a day of waiting. Even though the mushers were close they weren't expected to arrive until the evening.

The Art Of Patience

Our team enjoyed a nice day today, doing what they have become accustomed to, which is waiting for the mushers.

Digging Out

The team is happy to report that they weathered the storm well and now they are back to moderately calm conditions. They had to dig out their tents and supplies and the plan was to resurrect the third tent and possibly the group shelter for tonight.

Riding Out The Storm

The team reports that all is well at what is now called "Camp Storm Breaker". The wind started to pick up around 5 AM local time Saturday morning and continued to increase until it finally seemed to reach its peak. All the efforts from yesterday building a strong wind wall have paid off as the wall tis taking the brunt of the wind and their tents remain relatively unscathed.

Prepping for weather

Today has been a change of pace from the last few days. The team had a mission: to storm-proof their camp in anticipation of some incoming weather.
