Congratulations to our South Pole Last Degree team for reaching their half way point! Only 30 nautical miles left!
Today it was a cool -25 degrees celsius (that's -13 degrees F) with clear skies and no wind. The team made 9 nautical miles with a 2 minute break every 3/4 of a mile and a 10 minute break every 1.5 miles, a pace which suits everyone.
To celebrate their arrival at the half way point they made ravioli with a red cream sauce, fresh ground beef and vegetables for dinner, and chocolate coconut cookies for dessert. Who said anything about losing weight on a South Pole ski expedition!?
Everyone is feeling great. When we spoke with the team Dean, Brian and Zdenek were already asleep, warm in their sleeping bags, Martin was reading.
The riddle of the day was... "I am as light as a feather, yet no man can hold me for long. What am I?" Can you think of the answer?
Listen to today's update from Keith and check back tomorrow for another dispatch from the polar plateau.
