We are happy to report that the weather cleared enough today for our team to make it to Vinson. With their South Pole conditioning and acclimatization they loaded up their sleds and made their way straight up to Low Camp, where they are tonight. They are much further north than they were on the polar plateau and most of the day was warm. However unlike the polar plateau this is a mountainous region and when the sun goes behind a mountain the temperatures cool off quickly in the shade!
The trek up to Low Camp is beautiful with mountains flanking the right side of the route, and a vast expanse of Antarctic terrain off to the left. Everyone is excited to be on the next leg of their adventure and eager to experience Vinson.
Check back again tomorrow for another update from Vinson!
