Team Haribo:
Team 1 took a partial rest day today at Dye 2 and had the opportunity to explore the spooky old building throughout the morning. Later in the afternoon, Annie and CP's group showed up and for the first time, both teams were in the same place! They had a nice time chatting and catching up before it was time to head out.
Team 1 took off from Dye 2 and got a few hours of skiing in, totaling about 4.5 miles of progress. Conditions were great!
Team Cocoa-Motive:
Team 2 made it to Dye 2 around 2:45 today, and they were very excited to meet up with Team 1. Not only did they see Taylor's group, but also a group of scientists, and another expedition group from Norrona, the outdoor apparel brand. It was pretty weird for them to see so many different people! They had been on their own for so many days, it was a pleasant novelty.
The team skied about 8.7 miles and gained 100m. They had a cold and windy morning, but it quickly subsided and turned into a sunny, beautiful day! Arriving at Dye 2, the group was ecstatic to reach their first milestone. They explored the abandoned radar stations for a few hours and had a lot of fun! It was drifted over in snow and they had to climb the roof to enter through a propped open door. The group signed their names on the billiard room wall (a tradition for expeditions) and took lots of photos.
Cheering you all on
What an amazing adventure!
Did you see the northern lights?
