As expected, the team bypassed Vinson Base Camp and are currently tucked into their sleeping bags at Low Camp. They expect to ascend fixed lines to High Camp tomorrow.
After departing Union Glacier via Twin Otter aircraft just before noon, they punched through the clouds into blue sky--a beautiful sight especially after a few overcast days in a row.
They touched down at Vinson Base Camp in near perfect conditions. After sorting out their gear, they began their ascent, gaining roughly 2,100 feet of elevation.
Stay tuned for their next moves!
