Keith and Brian had another relaxing day at Vinson Basecamp, socked in by clouds and snow. They are finishing off the rest of their "special meals", today's main meal being beef burritios. There has been rougly 6in (10cm) of fresh snow over the last 24 hours, coating everything in fresh powder...
Keith and Brian have been resting the day away at Vinson Basecamp. The clouds have come in close so there won't be any flights coming in to get them for at least 24 hours. Luckily the company is good and the hours of rest are sorely needed. Check back in tomorrow for updates on their travel back home!
Keith and Brian are afely back to Vinson Basecamp after 4.5 hours of sunny downclimbing today. Now the waiting game begins for a Twin Otter flight back to Union Glacier. There are 15 other climbers also waiting for a ride out, with 10 others still coming down off the mountain...
They've made the summit! Despite not having had a rest in a while, Keith and Brian decided to go for the summit today as the weather is only getting more challenging over the next few days. 6.5hrs of travel took them to the "top of the bottom of the world" where they didn't stay for long due to the cold and wind.
Keith and Brian made outstanding progress up the mountain today and are currently resting at High Camp. They described it as a real tough but fun day. They took off from low camp late this morning once the sun had risen and temperatures rose. The route up the fixed lines took them 6.5hrs in light winds and warm temperature. Now they are taking a long, well-deserved rest. Tomorrow morning they will make the decision to go for the summit or continue recuperating for a while longer.
